E-Commerce Report 2015

Falling sales prices, a weak euro and increasing losses of purchasing power abroad – even online retailers can feel the effects of this.

Falling sales prices, a weak euro, and increasing losses of purchasing power abroad – even online retailers cannot always escape these market developments. Nevertheless, in most sectors, online retail performed better than overall industry revenues in 2015. While growth rates are slowing and not all retailers will achieve their targets, a majority of industry representatives still expect online sales to continue growing, both during this year's Christmas season and in 2016.
These results are presented in the flash survey of the Swiss E-Commerce Report. This long-term study series is conducted by the online payment processor Datatrans and the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland. The online survey, carried out in mid-October, included 24 potentially market-leading e-commerce providers of consumer goods and services. They represent an e-commerce sales volume of 3.2 billion Swiss francs.
